10-26 journal – The history of Halloween
　Halloween started a long time ago. In the 1500s, on October 31st, people in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales went home to home in costumes singing songs for food. They wore costumes to scare evil spirits away. This event was called All Hallows’ Evening. It was the beginning of what is now called ‘trick-or-treating’. Around 1745, All Hallows’ Evening came to be called Halloween (All Hallows’ Evening > Hallow-E-en > Halloween). Now people wear costumes and go trick-or-treating for fun on Halloween!
