Fun Cooking In English. 

Today we cooked Australian-style meat pies with the Hannan Junior High School ESS club. The recipe was prepared by our CNET, Matt, and the ingredients were provided by the ESS club leader, Ms. Nomoto, both of whom supervised the cooking class.

The club’s six first-grade students spent two and a half hours working in pairs on three large meat pies. The students worked very diligently throughout the session and were careful and skillful in preparing the food, even if the process took a little longer than planned!

When we sat down to eat, we were lucky enough to have the school’s head and assistant-head teachers drop by to share the food. We ate together, and everyone commented that three pies had slightly different flavors. It was nice to see that while every pair had followed the same recipe, they had nevertheless each managed to create something different.

After finishing the meal, ESS club students spent a little time discussing their next cooking project, which will be undertaken in the summer.
