　There was a lot of rain yesterday because of a typhoon. It made me think about English words that we use to talk about big storms. In English we say “typhoon,” “hurricane,” and “cyclone” to talk about big dangerous storms. We say “typhoon” if the storm is in the Northeast Pacific Ocean. We say “hurricane” if the storm is in the Atlantic Ocean or in the Northwest Pacific Ocean. We will say “cyclone” if the storm is in the South Pacific Ocean. These words all have the same meaning. The only difference is where the storm happens. So if people are talking about a big storm, you can know where the storm is by listening to what English word the people are using.
