Dance Lessons Have Started

Today, dance instruction began at Hokuryō Junior High School as part of the Kita Ward School Step-Up Program.

During the fifth period, the first lesson was held for the first-year students.
At first, some students seemed a little unsure of the unfamiliar steps, but as they watched the instructor’s demonstrations and moved their bodies, they gradually relaxed.

Before long, many students were enjoying the dance, keeping time with the music, calling out to their friends, and moving with smiles on their faces.
By the end of the lesson, a lot of them were able to step confidently to the rhythm.

The instructors will be visiting Hokuryō Junior High School several more times for additional lessons.
We look forward to their continued guidance and support.

Today’s School Lunch

Today’s menu was:
・Simmered Chicken and Vegetables
・Chickpeas with Dried Young Sardines (Jako-mame)
・Turnip with Yuzu Flavor
・Kayaku Gohan (Seasoned Mixed Rice)
・Milk

With December here, the menu has taken on a cozy, winter feel.
The kayaku gohan was especially satisfying—the flavors of the ingredients had soaked beautifully into the rice.
The simmered chicken and vegetables, slow-cooked in a large kettle, had that hallmark school-lunch depth: seasoning permeated evenly, and the warmth of the dish was genuinely comforting.
In Class 3-2, serving was unhurried and careful, and soon everyone began lunch together with a cheerful “Itadakimasu!” The friendly, relaxed atmosphere made the meal all the more enjoyable.

Start of December — Health & PE (Endurance Run & Badminton)

Today marks the start of December.
The morning was chilly, but the daytime was relatively mild.

In Health & Physical Education, the endurance run began today.
For the 3rd-year boys, the challenge was how many laps they could complete on a 160-meter track in 7 minutes.
From next week, they will run along the Ōkawa riverside course.
Running outdoors offers changing scenery, which makes for a refreshing change of pace and something to look forward to.

The girls practiced badminton in the gym.
They worked on fundamentals and rallies, and there were plenty of smiles.

Final Exams – Day 3 (Last Day)

The three days of final exams came to an end today, the last day of testing.
During the third period, students took the final subject, Social Studies.

The third-year students, with important career and course choices ahead of them, approached the exam with great seriousness and focus.
Their attitude toward each question reflected their determination as they prepare for upcoming entrance examinations and future paths.

In the third-year corridor, reports about the Osaka–Kansai Expo, which students visited on a recent field trip, are on display.
Each report is a carefully composed piece of work, expressing what they saw, learned, and thought in their own words and layouts.

Today’s School Lunch

Today’s menu was:
・Grilled Shishamo (Smelt)
・Japanese-style Curry Soup
・Stir-fried Chicken Tender and Komatsuna
・Matcha-flavored Soybeans
・Steamed Rice
・Milk

It’s Day 2 of the exams, and after working their brains at full throttle, everyone came to lunch with healthy appetites.

In Class 2-4, one student asked, “Curry with shishamo—does that really go together?”
We explained that today’s dish is Japanese-style curry soup, a chopsticks-friendly soup rather than curry over rice.
There were nods… and a few doubtful looks—but smiles once they tasted it.

Whether as curry rice or as curry soup, the flavor was outstanding.
The Japanese dashi base really shone through, giving a deep, lingering umami.
It’s the kind of broth that would pair beautifully with curry udon as well.
