Commendations for the Cultural Arts Festival at the All-School Assembly

This week’s All-School Assembly also began with commendations.
On October 18–19 at the Osaka City Central Public Hall (Nakanoshima), we recognized the Tea Ceremony Club for its tea ceremony demonstration and the Home Economics exhibit presented at the Cultural Arts Festival.

With the morning chill, many students wore their winter uniforms.
The principal spoke about influenza precautions and the upcoming Cultural Festival.

This week is Cultural Festival Week.
Although the program for 1st-year students has been postponed, please take good care of your health and keep doing your best.

Principal’s Address (October 28, 2025)
Good morning, everyone.
Today’s all-school assembly also began with commendations.
I feel truly proud when your daily efforts take shape like this and are recognized with awards.
This week, our Cultural Festival Week finally begins.
It feels like our Sports Day just ended, and already the next stage is here.
With the change of seasons, mornings have become noticeably colder.
Please be even more mindful of your health than usual.
In fact, we had temporary class closures in the 3rd year last week, and this week a 1st-year class has also been closed.
Not only here at Hokuryō, but across Osaka City’s elementary and junior high schools, 83 classes were closed last week, according to reports.
I’ve heard the number may be even higher this week.
Let’s recall the COVID era: wash your hands frequently, gargle, and ventilate rooms well.
Especially during choir practice, air out the room often, and be mindful of spacing and the direction you’re facing.
I’m impressed to see so many of you gathering for early-morning choir practice.
As a class and as a grade, joining forces toward one shared goal—experiences like this are actually rare in life.
They are precious moments.
And it’s okay if your finished work or your choir performance isn’t “perfect.”
What matters most is the path you take to create it—the process.
The ingenuity you show, the candid dialogue when you clash and then overcome differences, and the way you support one another—those are what help you grow the most.
Let me share a phrase I’d like you to remember.
Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, left us these words:
“The journey is the reward.”
“Journey” can be read here as “the path,” and “reward” means a prize or something earned.
In other words, “the path itself is the reward.”
Rather than chasing only the result, this reminds us that the preparation, the effort, and the challenges you take on with your peers are valuable in and of themselves.
As you prepare for the Cultural Festival—in your classes and your clubs—please savor that process.
What you accomplished today, what improved from yesterday, the moments when you truly connected with your friends—each of these will become solid nourishment for your future.
Let’s make this Cultural Festival Week a great success across all of Hokuryō Junior High.

初一（1）班 临时停课通知（流感）

由于初一（1）班出现多例流感感染，依据校医的建议及大阪市教育委员会的相关标准，决定如下临时停课。
今天（10月27日（周一））已按计划于午餐后放学。

关于合唱比赛
原定于10月30日（周四）举行的合唱比赛中，初二与初三目前计划按原定安排进行。
初一的比赛将延期，择日举行。
新的举行日期确定后将另行通知。

临时停课期间
10月28日（周二）至10月30日（周四）　※对象：初一（1）班
预计10月31日（周五）恢复上课。
如有变更，将通过Mimamoru-me（ミマモルメ）通知。

The 26th Tenma Music Festival — Hokuryō Junior High School Brass Band Performs!

This year, our Hokuryō Junior High School Brass Band once again performed at the long-standing Tenma Music Festival.

They filled the stage with the rich, resonant sound of Hokuryō, celebrating the spirit of community through music.


The Tenma Music Festival is a community-based music event that transforms the entire Tenma area of Kita Ward, Osaka, into one big stage.

Music flows from 21 venues across the city — including the Kita Ward Civic Center, Ōgimachi Museum Cube, shopping arcades, temples, churches, cafés, live houses, and even boats!


With the theme “Creating Sound, Building Friendships, Enriching the City,” the festival has been a beloved local tradition since its start in 2000.

It continues to thrive thanks to the collaboration of local residents, shopping streets, companies, schools, city officials, and volunteers.


On the day of the festival, around 200 groups of both professional and amateur musicians performed genres ranging from jazz, pop, and rock to gospel and brass band.

With an audience of roughly 30,000 people, it is one of Osaka’s largest community music events.


At one of the venues — our school gymnasium — the first performance of the day was by the Hokuryō Brass Band.

Their performance went beyond music, featuring dance routines and humorous skits between songs, captivating the audience and filling the gym with energy and laughter.


This lively performance surely brought many new fans to the Hokuryō Brass Band.

Well done, “HOKUSUI” — you made us proud!
