　Monday was Halloween. Look at the picture above, it is a picture of me, my brother, and my sisters during Halloween. I was Godzilla. Do you know why people wear costumes on Halloween? A long time ago, people in Ireland believed that the spirits of the dead would come back on October 31st. So Halloween is actually like the Bon Festival in Japan. However, the Irish believed that some of the spirits that came back on Halloween were bad, so they would wear costumes to hide from the bad spirits. If everyone is wearing costumes the bad spirits cannot tell who is a person and who is a spirit, so the people are safe. We wear costumes on Halloween for the same reason that we make jack o’ lanterns, to keep bad spirits away.
