全校集会 ―「微歧視(Microaggression)」~「我沒有惡意」並不能成為理由~
每週二是全校集会的日子。今天,校長首先慰勞了上週順利完成一年級、二年級自然體驗學習的同學們,並對下週即將出發的三年級修學旅行表達了期待,隨後展開了今天的講話。
校長向全校介紹了**「微歧視(Microaggression)」這個詞。直譯就是「微小的攻擊」——指的是並非出於惡意的一句話,卻在無意間傷害了對方。「日語說得真好啊」「身為女生卻做得這麼棒」「男孩子不要哭哭啼啼」——校長舉了這些貼近日常的例子,並指出一次或許可以一笑置之,但日積月累就會成為深深的傷痕**。
接著,校長也對「我沒有惡意」這句話本身提出了疑問。這是加害一方才會說的話,而受傷的是被言語觸碰到的人。不要以自己為基準,先試著想像對方的感受,再選擇措辭。這正是校長平日常說的**「珍惜自己,也珍惜身邊的人」**的延伸。

集会後半,學生會就汗巾的使用方法作了再次提醒,緊接著生活指導主任也就校內諮詢申告機制的使用方式進行了說明。為了讓每一位同學都能舒適、安心地度過校園生活,這兩件事都是不可忽略的小事。
三年級的同學們,下週就要出發前往修學旅行了。正因為要與夥伴們長時間一同度過,更希望大家能珍惜「為對方著想的言語選擇」。一、二年級的同學們也請把「微歧視」這個詞記在心裡,帶回家慢慢思考。

School Assembly ― "Microaggressions": "I didn't mean any harm" is not enough
Every Tuesday, we hold our weekly school assembly. Today, the principal opened by thanking Year 7 and Year 8 students for completing their Nature Experience Learning safely last week, and expressing his anticipation for Year 9's school trip, which begins next week.
The principal then introduced a word for the whole school to consider: "microaggression." Translated literally, it means "a small act of aggression" — a remark made without ill intent that nonetheless wounds the person on the receiving end. Through everyday examples — "Your Japanese is so good!", "Wow, that's impressive for a girl," "Boys shouldn't cry" — he reminded students that what can be laughed off once may, when repeated, become a lasting wound.
He also questioned the phrase "I didn't mean any harm" itself. It is, he noted, a phrase spoken by the one who caused the hurt — yet it is the listener who carries the pain. Rather than using ourselves as the measure, we should pause to imagine how the other person might feel before choosing our words. This, the principal reminded everyone, is exactly what the school's guiding words — "Value yourself. Value the person next to you." — are pointing towards.

In the second half of the assembly, the Student Council reminded everyone about how to use cooling body wipes properly, and the head of student guidance followed up with a reminder about how to use our school's consultation and reporting system. Both are small but important matters that help every student spend their days at school comfortably and safely.
Year 9 students will set off on their school trip next week. Precisely because they will be spending long hours together with their classmates, we hope they will treasure the small act of choosing words that show consideration for others. Year 7 and Year 8 students, too — please take the word "microaggression" home with you, and give it some thought.
