Today’s menu consisted of:

Mini bread rolls, yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), edamame (green soybeans), sliced cheese, "imo-kenpi" style fish snack (sweet, glazed fish strips), and milk.

☆Origin of Edamame☆

Edamame are soybeans harvested while they are still young and tender—before they fully mature. It is believed that soybeans originated in the region spanning northern (North China) to northeastern China. In Japan, they are widely cultivated in Hokkaido, the Tohoku region, and the Kanto region. In the Tohoku region, boiled and mashed edamame—known as "zunda"—is used in various dishes, such as in dressings or as a sweet paste. Well-known varieties of edamame include "Tanba-kuro" from Hyogo Prefecture, "Tada-chamame" from Yamagata Prefecture, and "Kurosaki-chamame" from Niigata Prefecture.
