Talk Title: The Courage to Try, The Courage to Fail
Today’s talk, delivered by a student teacher, centered on “What I Want Everyone to Know.”
The key message was to have the courage to take on challenges and the courage to fail.
The speaker also serves as a basketball club instructor at another junior high school and shares the same message there.
Not Being Afraid of Failure
Whether in sports clubs or cultural clubs, people sometimes avoid taking action for fear of failure.
The speaker recalled feeling that way in junior high school.
In high school, however, they deliberately took on challenges and experienced failure.
Through that process they improved and eventually earned a place in games.
It reinforced the conviction that failure is a shortcut to success.
Pair Talk: “What Are You Afraid to Do?”
Students were asked to discuss with the person next to them, “What are you afraid to do right now?”
Lively conversations followed.
One student answered, “Studying.”
Whether in club activities or academics, it is okay to fail sometimes—no one never fails.
The important thing is to analyze the cause when you do fail and use that insight to inform your next step.
Facing the Invisible Walls Ahead
As you move toward your future paths, you will encounter invisible walls.
What you need then is the readiness to accept failure and turn it into learning.
The speaker closed by saying they would be glad if you remember today’s message and start with one small step.

Reflections on the Talk
The speaker’s down-to-earth story about challenge and failure made the importance of taking action without fear truly resonate.
It clarified that failure is not the end but part of a learning cycle of analyze the cause → adjust → try again.
For 3rd graders at a crucial stage in both study and future planning, it was a timely and practical message that offered a strong push forward.
