Grade 7 Assembly: “The Third Term Is the ‘Zero Term’ for Grade 8”
Today, our Grade 7 students gathered for a grade-level assembly, where the teacher in charge spoke to them.
The talk began with a warm greeting: “How was your morning? Cold days continue, but seeing your faces makes me feel relieved.”
The teacher then discussed morning routines.
Ideally, it would be good to wake up about two hours before classes begin.
However, everyone’s rhythm is different, so the key message was to gradually improve how we use our morning time, step by step.
Next came announcements.
Grade 9 students began their year-end exams today.
Grade 7 students will have their year-end exams next month.
Students were encouraged to finish workbooks and assignments early so they won’t feel rushed right before the exams.
The teacher also noted that health and sex education lessons will be held this week and next.
Students will learn about puberty and physical differences between boys and girls.
A key reminder was shared: do not tease or make fun of others.
Because everyone experiences and receives this learning differently, students were asked to be considerate and to create a classroom atmosphere where everyone can learn with peace of mind.
The main topic followed.
The teacher emphasized that the third term of Grade 7 is the “zero term” for Grade 8.
Since entering junior high school in April, students have grown significantly—something teachers notice every day.
At the same time, in about three months, they will become “senpai,” or older students.
Students were asked to start imagining what kind of senpai they want to be.
Three examples were shared: a kind senpai, a trusted senpai, and a senpai who can serve as a role model.
A kind senpai notices when younger students are struggling and speaks up quickly.
A trusted senpai shows good attitude and behavior that makes others think, “I can ask this person for advice.”
A role-model senpai creates positive relationships through greetings, friendly words, and an atmosphere that feels comfortable for everyone.
Through concrete examples, students were encouraged to begin preparing for the next step.
The teacher also posed a question: Do you know your own strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths and weaknesses are closely connected, and depending on perspective, a weakness can become a strength.
Using a personal example, the teacher said their strength is being cheerful, positive, and optimistic, while their weakness is being a bit clumsy.
But from another angle, that “clumsiness” can also be seen as taking action quickly.
Students were encouraged to look at themselves from different viewpoints.
A career talk is also scheduled for next month.
Students were encouraged to use it as a chance to think about what kind of work they might like to do in the future, what kind of life they want to live, and what vision they have for themselves.
This third term is a preparation period for the next grade.
As a school, we will continue supporting students as they make small improvements and start Grade 8 with confidence.
