Kita Ward Citizens’ Carnival — and Sports Day Practice Begins
With the choral competition and the school festival behind us, the busy first half of October has come to a close, and everyday school life has settled back in. Many parents and guardians came to both events. Thank you so much for your warm applause and cheers.
Next up is Sports Day on Friday, October 30. Full-scale practice began today. With one event following right after another, there’s barely time to catch a breath, but the students have already shifted gears and are moving toward their next goal.
Yesterday, Sunday, October 18, the 38th Kita Ward Citizens’ Carnival was held at Ogimachi Park and nearby venues. Mayor Yokoyama gave a greeting as a guest at the opening ceremony, and under clear autumn skies the grounds were filled with the lively energy of the local community.
Our students took part in a variety of events and gave each one their all. Some of them even received medals and certificates. Showing what they can do at such a large community event must have been a happy experience for them.
Students who use our school’s resource room also contributed handmade crocodile charms, made from can pull-tabs and felt with guidance from the Kita Ward Social Welfare Council. Each colorful crocodile came with a message card, such as “Each one made with care” and “We hope this brings you a smile,” carrying the makers’ feelings straight to the people who picked them up. Seeing something they made with their own hands go home with members of the community was a truly valuable experience for these students.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the Kita Ward Social Welfare Council for their guidance, to the carnival’s organizing committee, and to everyone in the community who offered the students a kind word at the event. It was a day when we felt supported by many people, and connected to them, beyond the school walls. Sports Day is next, and we’ll keep preparing so that every student can shine in their own way.
