One week has passed since the start of the second term, and students are settling back into the school rhythm.
The teacher reminded everyone that the second term is the longest of the year.
With events and tests packed into October, now is the time to tune up daily routines so we can power through.
Today’s Themes
Today’s themes were “Noticing” and “A Gentle, Flexible Heart.”
The teacher opened with two small incidents from this morning.
First, a neck and lower-back cramp that made it hard to move, which prompted a reflection on noticing changes in one’s own body.
Second, realizing during the bicycle commute that one arm cover had gone missing.
Small as they are, these moments show how a single notice can lead to different choices.
With your young minds and hearts, you can find things to notice everywhere.
There are notices from nature—the crisp air and sky that signal the approach of autumn.
There are also notices from people—the expressions and words of friends, classmates, and teachers.
Taking in these signals is the first step toward growth.
Turn noticing into words and action: greet others proactively, pick up litter, and check in on a friend who seems troubled.
Let’s build a cycle of Noticing → Words → Action → Growth.
A Gentle, Flexible Heart
Like a sponge filled with water, first take in viewpoints different from your own.
Then organize and update your thinking.
That flexibility widens perspective and deepens learning.
Announcements
On September 20, the “Yume-Kita Expo Fashion Show” will be held at the Umeda Sky Building’s 40th-floor Floating Garden. Seventeen Hokuryō students will take part.
This is not only about looking cute or cool—it is a remake fashion show where unwanted clothes are combined into new outfits, highlighting a sustainable approach.
Please cheer them on.
We also plan a field trip to the Expo in September.
We hope learning outside the classroom will bring even more moments of discovery.
Message from the Grade Director
It is important to notice, widen your perspective, and take action.
Some students greet teachers readily.
Others notice things but pretend not to.
This term, value that “next step after noticing,” and make your class better through your actions.
