全校集会与世界人权日的主题分享
本日，我们举行了全校集会。
首先，对科学部的获奖、在“关于税的作文”中获奖的同学、以及在技术科课堂中参加各类竞赛并获得奖项的同学进行了表彰和颁发证书。
北稜中每一位同学的努力，能够以这样的方式被“看见”和肯定，对大家来说都是巨大的鼓励。
接着由校长致辞。
以上周12月10日“世界人权日”为切入点，校长围绕日本在“女性人权”方面所面临的课题进行了讲话。
通过入学考试、就业机会、工资差距以及女性在管理岗位上的比例等实例，校长指出，在国际指标上，日本在性别平等方面仍然处于落后位置。
他还结合日常生活中的具体例子进行说明：
比如，女孩在技术课木工方面很擅长，却被评价为“女孩子居然这么厉害”；
男生敢于明确表达意见时被称赞为“有领导力”，而女生在同样场合发言时却被说成“很强势、很可怕”；
在家务方面，女生做饭洗衣常被视为“理所当然”，而男生偶尔做一次便被夸奖“将来一定很受欢迎”“男生居然这么厉害”。
这些看似随口而出的评论，其实都源于对性别角色的固有印象和无意识偏见。
校长强调，“女性的人权”并不是只有女性才需要关心的问题，而是关系到所有人能否按照自己方式生活的社会课题。
他呼吁大家一起思考：自己的语言是否在不知不觉中缩小了别人的未来？自己的态度是否在无意中限制了他人的自由？并希望全校共同努力，继续建设一个彼此尊重、彼此珍惜的校园。
从今天起，学校也开始了期末家长面谈，
下周则将迎来本学期的期末结业式。
希望大家也能好好思考下午时间的使用方式，一边迎接年末，一边认真做好这一年的收尾工作。

School Assembly and a Talk on Human Rights Day
Today, we held a school-wide assembly.
We began by presenting certificates to students from the Science Club, to those who received awards in the “Essay on Tax” contest, and to students who won prizes in competitions entered through technology class.
Having each Hokuryō student’s efforts recognized in such a visible way is a great source of encouragement for everyone.
This was followed by a talk from the principal.
In connection with Human Rights Day on December 10, the principal spoke about the issue of “women’s human rights” in Japan.
Citing examples such as entrance examinations, employment, wage differences, and the low proportion of women in managerial and decision-making positions, the principal explained that, according to international indicators, Japan still lags behind many countries in terms of gender equality.
He then illustrated this with familiar, everyday examples:
for instance, when a girl excels at woodwork in technology class and people say, “You’re amazing—for a girl”;
when a boy speaks up clearly in class and is praised for having “leadership,” but a girl doing the same is described as “intense” or “scary”;
and when household chores are treated as something girls are “expected” to do, whereas boys are overly praised for cooking or doing laundry only occasionally.
The principal pointed out that these seemingly casual comments actually stem from fixed ideas about gender roles and from unconscious bias.
He emphasized that “women’s human rights” is not an issue only for women, but a question of whether everyone can live in a way that is true to themselves.
He urged students to reflect on whether their own words might be narrowing someone’s future, and whether their attitudes might be limiting someone else’s freedom, and called on the whole school to continue building a community where people value and respect one another.
From today, our end-of-term conferences with parents and guardians have also begun,
and next week we will finally hold the closing ceremony for this term.
As we approach the end of the year, let us think carefully about how we use our afternoons, and take time to look back and bring this school year to a thoughtful close.
