Morning Arrival Scene and Grade 9 Assembly Toward Entrance Exams
The cold felt even sharper this morning.
Yet compared with yesterday, it somehow seemed more bearable.
Maybe we’re simply getting used to it.
This afternoon, our Grade 8 students will visit their workplace-experience sites for a pre-visit.
We kindly ask our community members to continue watching over students as they travel to and from these sites.
Over the weekend, Grade 9 held a grade-level assembly.
Today, the Grade 9 lead teacher spoke to students as entrance exams draw near.
A few years ago, there was heavy snow on an exam day.
The message was clear: “You never know what might happen.”
The teacher shared a personal story from their own private-school entrance exam.
Today, most applications are submitted online, but back then they were delivered in person.
One advantage was being seated near friends from the same school, often with consecutive exam numbers—something reassuring.
They also once delivered multiple students’ school records (transcripts) on behalf of the group, saying “Thank you, please take care of this,” and everything went smoothly.
But on the exam day itself, an unexpected situation occurred.
Their exam number was 5401.
Friends from the same school had 5398, 5399, and 5400.
Only 5401 was assigned to a different room.
To make matters worse, there was no clock in the room—and no friends nearby to ask.
They remembered feeling truly panicked.
Although they passed, the experience reinforced the point: anything can happen.
A few more examples were shared.
When hands are numb from the cold, writing can become difficult.
Another student once ate a “good-luck” pork cutlet bowl in the morning, only to feel heavy and uncomfortable during the test.
Entrance exams are a special day.
But the best approach is to take them as an extension of everyday life.
For example, exam days often require waking up earlier than usual.
Practicing getting up just a little earlier can help.
Arriving at school a little earlier can help as well.
Small routines like these build calm and confidence when it matters.
The student council chair also introduced a goal for the second semester:
Even after some students secure early admissions, others may still be uncertain.
That is why everyone is encouraged to support one another until the very last student’s path is decided.
So what does “support” really mean?
The clearest support is this:
Until the final student’s next step is confirmed, keep daily school life steady and positive.
And together, let’s reach a graduation ceremony we can truly be proud of.
The 77th cohort will graduate in Reiwa 7 (FY2025).
With the number “7” repeating, it feels like a lucky year.
Above all, we hope students will arrive at graduation with smiles and tears—sharing a moment they will remember for a lifetime.
