【Research Lesson with Sekimoto School Advisor from the General Education Center (Class 1-1 / Social Studies)】
Today, we held a Social Studies research lesson in Class 1-1, welcoming Mr./Ms. Sekimoto, a School Advisor from the General Education Center.
This lesson was conducted based on an official request by the school for instructional support, with the specific purpose of receiving professional feedback and guidance after the lesson. To ensure the advice would directly support classroom improvement, the session was implemented with a designated class and a designated lesson.
The lesson focused on the Kamakura Shogunate, tracing the historical flow from the Mongol invasions to the Tokuseirei (Debt Relief Order). Students worked with materials, thought through key questions, and engaged in group activities to exchange ideas and deepen understanding.
Although the students were understandably a bit nervous, they participated actively and shared thoughtful comments in their own words, demonstrating independent and deeper learning.
The use of the interactive digital board was also outstanding. Materials were displayed and switched smoothly, key points were highlighted clearly, and the boardwork was well organized, helping students keep a clear view of the lesson structure. Ideas from group discussions were shared immediately, which further enriched learning.
After the third period, the advisor provided concrete guidance on lesson objectives, questioning strategies, lesson design, and assessment perspectives.
We will incorporate today’s feedback into our ongoing lesson improvement and teaching practice. We sincerely appreciate the advisor’s visit and support despite a busy schedule.
