Today, we held a grade assembly for first-year students.
The teacher in charge spoke about the RikuRyu pair winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
After struggling in the short program and feeling that “it might be over,” they regrouped and ultimately achieved success. The teacher shared how deeply moved they were by this comeback.
In a previous moral education class, students learned the idea of “breaking goals into smaller steps.”
Especially during difficult times, instead of jumping toward a big goal all at once, it is important to set smaller milestones—“let’s reach this point first”—and move forward step by step. By doing so, actions change, and mindset becomes more positive.
Building on that lesson, today’s theme was “trust.”
A trustworthy person is someone who keeps time, greets others, follows rules, and quickly helps those in need—in other words, someone who consistently does the ordinary things well.
The teacher emphasized that trust is not built through words, but through the accumulation of daily actions. It is not about trying hard for just one day, but about continuing steadily.
Finally, the teacher noted that Olympic athletes dedicate four years of continuous effort toward their goals. In pair events especially, mutual trust is directly connected not only to results but also to safety.
The assembly concluded with this message: Let’s take inspiration from others’ challenges and begin making small changes toward our own goals starting today.
