9月30日，一年级举行了年级集会。

负责讲话的老师向同学们介绍了相田光男先生的作品《支撑花朵的枝条》。"支撑花朵的是枝条，支撑枝条的是树干，支撑树干的是根——而根，是看不见的啊。"老师将这句话与即将开始的合唱比赛和运动会联系起来，希望同学们不仅重视正式演出时展现出来的样子，也要珍惜练习中互相鼓励、一次次挑战、支持伙伴等不易被看见的"日常积累"。同时，大家也再次确认了在走廊里要留意周围、注意安全。

接着，年级主任老师在运动会年级练习开始之前，让同学们实际排好队伍进行讲解。不仅要注意前后，也要留意左右的队列，同学们一边活动身体，一边体会"主动观察周围、主动行动"的重要性。

随后，一位班委呼吁大家在期中考试结束后认真回顾做错的地方；另一位班委则号召大家把本月目标放在心上，一起投入运动会、文化节等升入初中后的第一次大型活动。

希望今后每一天的练习，都能成为同学们互相支持的"根"，连接到秋季活动的正式舞台。我们满怀期待。

First-Year Assembly: Valuing the Roots We Cannot See

On 30 September, our first-year students gathered for a year-group assembly.

The teacher leading the talk introduced a work by the Japanese poet and calligrapher Aida Mitsuo, The Branch That Holds the Flower. Its words — "The branch holds the flower, the trunk holds the branch, the roots hold the trunk, and the roots cannot be seen" — were linked to the choir competition and sports day that lie ahead. Students were encouraged to value not only what is seen on the day itself, but also the quieter work behind it: calling out to one another during practice, trying again and again, and supporting their friends — the everyday effort that is easy to miss. Everyone also went over the importance of watching out for others and moving safely in the corridors.

Next, the head of year spoke ahead of the year-group practice for sports day, with students actually lining up as they listened. Looking not just in front and behind but also along the line to either side, they experienced for themselves the importance of noticing what is around them and acting on their own initiative.

Finally, one class representative reminded everyone to look back over their mistakes after the mid-term tests. Another encouraged the year group to keep this month's goal in mind and to take on sports day, the school festival and their other first big events at junior high together.

We look forward to seeing each day of practice grow into roots that support the friends beside them, leading all the way to this autumn's events.
