全校集会：游泳部、男子网球部颁奖，以及中日邦交正常化纪念日的校长讲话
今天又是从早上就开始下雨。据说连绵多日的秋雨，明天终于要"出秋雨季"了。
在这样一个雨天的早晨，我们举行了全校集会。首先，为游泳部和男子网球部颁奖。平日刻苦训练的积累终于结出了成果，全校同学一起为他们喝彩。获奖的同学们，祝贺你们！
接着，校长向大家介绍了今天9月29日的意义——54年前的今天，日本与中国发表联合声明，实现了邦交正常化。讲话的核心，是联合声明中所蕴含的"即使存在差异"这一理念：不是等待差异消失，而是在差异之中对话、建立关系。校长还谈到，北稜中学也有许多根在中国以及世界各个国家和地区的伙伴，希望大家不要因为国家之间发生的事情而责怪或断定眼前的朋友，"要把国家的事，和身边这一位朋友的事，分开来看"。
话题随后转到了眼下同时进行的合唱比赛、文化节展示和运动会的准备工作上。在准备过程中，难免会有意见冲突，也会有进展不顺、心里憋闷的时候。校长希望大家一起打造这样的班级："即使反对对方的意见，也不夺走那个人的容身之处。"这句话令人印象深刻。

与想法不同的人交流对话、共同完成一件事，这样的经历正是在筹备各项活动的过程中一点点积累起来的。"珍惜自己，珍惜身边的人。"距离合唱比赛还有两周，距离运动会还有一个月。换季时节，请大家注意身体，一起把每一项活动办好吧。

Whole-School Assembly: Awards for the Swimming and Boys' Tennis Clubs, and the Principal's Talk on the Anniversary of Japan–China Normalisation
It was another rainy start to the day. After such a long spell of wet weather, we are told that the autumn rainy season should finally come to an end tomorrow.
On this rainy morning, we held a whole-school assembly. It began with award presentations for the Swimming Club and the Boys' Tennis Club. The whole school came together to celebrate what their steady, everyday training has achieved. Congratulations to everyone who received an award!
The Principal then explained the significance of today, 29 September. Fifty-four years ago, Japan and China issued a Joint Communiqué and formally normalised diplomatic relations. At the heart of the talk was an idea contained in that communiqué: building relationships "even with our differences". Rather than waiting for differences to disappear, we talk and build ties within them. The Principal also noted that Hokuryō has friends with roots in China and many other countries and regions, and asked students never to blame or judge the friend in front of them because of events between nations: "Please keep the affairs of countries separate from the one friend sitting beside you."
The talk then turned to the preparations now under way for the choir competition, the culture festival exhibitions and sports day. Opinions will sometimes clash, and there will be moments of frustration when things don't go to plan. The Principal asked everyone to build classes where "you may disagree with someone's opinion, but you never take away their place", a message that stayed with many of us.

Working alongside people who think differently, listening to one another and creating something together, is exactly the kind of experience our school events allow us to build up. "Value yourself, and value the person beside you." The choir competition is two weeks away, and sports day is just a month off. As the seasons change, let's look after our health and make each event something we create together.
