Joining the Horikawa Community Mochi-Pounding Event
On January 25, the “Horikawa Mochi-Pounding Event” was held in the Horikawa community.
Despite the cold weather, our school was pleased to take part with the Vice Principal, the Student Council advisor, and both the outgoing and incoming Student Council executive members.
It was wonderful to see students pound mochi with strength and confidence.
The venue was filled with lively calls and warm applause, creating a friendly atmosphere.
Students learned that mochi-making involves many roles—not only pounding, but also turning the mochi, checking the steaming process, preparing, and cleaning up.
With kind guidance from community members, everyone participated safely and comfortably.
Freshly made mochi was placed into bags and shared with participants.
The aroma of warm mochi brought smiles throughout the venue, making it a truly heartwarming winter experience.
For our Student Council members, joining community events is a valuable opportunity to learn beyond school and to strengthen connections with the local community.
We hope they will continue to grow with a sense of gratitude and responsibility as members of the community.
We sincerely thank everyone in the Horikawa community for all the preparation and support on the day of the event.
We look forward to your continued support of our students.
