雨中的清晨——２年級学年集会：学习游泳的意义与夏季游泳大会
在下着雨的清晨上学的今天，２年級举行了学年集会。负责老师围绕即将到来的夏季游泳大会，以及"为什么要学习游泳"这一话题进行了讲解。
屏幕上放映着去年游泳大会的照片，老师一边回顾当时的情景一边展开话题。随后老师抛出了一个问题：为什么体育课要游泳呢？其实，日本的游泳课最初是作为守护生命的学习而开始的。20世纪50年代水上事故频发，1955年学习指导要领规定在全国中小学设置游泳池，1964年东京奥运会前在体育振兴的潮流中，游泳课逐渐推广到了全国。
各个国家和地区情况各不相同。在海外，有不少地方小学有游泳课，到了中学却不再开设；在日本，像北海道等地由于气候原因，学校几乎没有游泳池，有的地区会借用附近的设施来游泳。大阪也因为酷暑和设施老化等原因，游泳的学习方式正在一点点发生变化。即便如此，希望大家掌握"用自己的力量守护自己生命"的能力——这份游泳教育最根本的心愿，至今没有改变。
游泳大会预定于7月6日下午举行。每位同学都将参加比赛项目，在注意安全的同时，珍惜游完全程的体验。老师也表达了这样的心情："看着大家游泳时其实非常担心，正因为如此，更希望同学们把守护生命放在心上"，同时也希望大家能体会到游泳的乐趣。
集会的最后，进行了决定班主任老师乘坐哪个游泳圈的抽签环节。体育委员抽签时，会场气氛热烈、笑声不断。既有受益匪浅的讲解，又有令人会心一笑的小环节，让这个下雨的清晨集会一下子变成了愉快的时光。

A Rainy Morning Assembly for Year 8: Why We Learn to Swim, and the Summer Swimming Meet
Students arrived at school in the rain this morning, and Year 8 held a year-group assembly. The teacher in charge spoke about the upcoming summer swimming meet and, more fundamentally, about why we learn to swim at all.
Photos from last year's swimming meet appeared on the screen, and the talk unfolded as the teacher looked back on the day. The question then posed was: why do we swim in PE class? As it turns out, swimming lessons in Japan began as a way of protecting one's life. After a series of water accidents in the 1950s, the 1955 national curriculum called for pools to be installed in elementary and junior high schools across the country, and in the lead-up to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, swimming spread nationwide as part of a wider movement to promote sport.
Circumstances differ from country to country and region to region. In many places overseas, swimming is taught in elementary school but not in junior high; and in Japan, areas such as Hokkaido have few school pools because of the climate, so some communities borrow nearby facilities to swim. In Osaka too, the way swimming is taught is gradually changing in response to extreme heat and ageing facilities. Even so, the central hope behind swimming lessons—that every student gains the ability to protect their own life—remains unchanged.
The swimming meet is planned for the afternoon of July 6th. Each student will take part in an event, taking care to stay safe while making it to the finish. "Watching makes me genuinely anxious, and that is exactly why I want you to keep your safety in mind," the teacher said, while also hoping that everyone would feel the joy of swimming.
The assembly ended with a lottery to decide which float each homeroom teacher would ride. When the PE committee members drew the tickets, the hall erupted with excitement. A genuinely useful talk paired with a few delightful surprises turned a rainy morning assembly into a thoroughly enjoyable time.
