9月15日　全校集会——校长讲话与学生会、生活委员会的报告

9月15日，我校在体育馆举行了全校集会。早晨已略有凉意，但白天暑气仍在。校长在开场时提醒同学们，季节交替之际容易感到身体不适，如果不舒服，请不要勉强，及时告诉身边的老师。

这次讲话的主题是「说出来，然后听进去」。距离合唱比赛还有一个月，距离体育大会还有45天，各班的练习和商量已经开始。在这个过程中，即使心里想着「是不是该再合一次」「这个顺序想换一下」，也常常难以开口。正因如此，希望大家把心里想的说出来；而当有人鼓起勇气开口时，也希望大家先好好听一听——讲话的内容大致如此。

校长还就社团对抗接力赛作了说明。本年度因校舍施工，原来的集合场地无法使用，加上比赛时间等因素，学校一度决定今年暂不举办。之后，各社团社长表达了「想比赛」的想法，学校与老师们商量后，通过减少场次等方式调整形式，决定今年仍然举办。参赛方式等细节确定后会另行通知。如果当时没有人开口，接力赛就这样取消了——这件事与讲话的主题正好重合。

接着，学生会报告了学生会交流会的情况。大阪市内共有26所中学参加。会上首先围绕「如何善用网络」交流了意见，出现了「不在社交媒体上与陌生人建立联系」「与家长商量后决定使用时间」等看法。

后半段以「为了让学校更好，学生会能做些什么」为题进行了小组讨论。各校介绍了各自的活动，例如开展关于欺凌和智能手机的问卷调查、在校内捡拾垃圾、拍摄以防止欺凌为主题的短剧等，各具特色。作报告的同学表示，在与其他学校的比较中，也发现了本校活动中独有的特色，今后希望把学到的经验运用到活动中去。

生活委员会就本月目标作了说明。上课开始时，是不是常常被老师反复提醒呢？这些其实是不用别人提醒也应该做到的事。委员会呼吁大家养成习惯，如果看到还没做到的同学，也彼此提醒一声，不要等老师开口，而是自己思考、主动行动。

最后，体育科通知各社团社长、队长在午餐后集合。

把想法说出来，也把别人的话听进去。学生会和生活委员会的呼吁，根底里或许是同一件事。珍惜自己，珍惜身边的人。在活动接连而至的这一个月里，期待北棱团队的每一句话，以及愿意倾听的那双耳朵。

15 September: Whole-School Assembly — the Principal's Talk and Reports from the Student Council and Daily Life Committee

On 15 September we held a whole-school assembly in the gymnasium. The mornings have begun to cool, but the afternoons are still warm. The principal opened by reminding pupils that the changing season can take a toll, and that if they feel unwell they should not simply put up with it, but tell a teacher nearby.

The theme of the talk was "say it, and then listen". The choral contest is a month away and the sports day 45 days away, and classes have already begun rehearsing and discussing. In the middle of all that, a pupil may think "shouldn't we run through that once more?" or "I'd like to change this order" — and still find it hard to speak up. That is exactly why, the principal said, it is worth saying what you think; and when someone else has found the courage to speak, it is worth listening first.

He also reported on the inter-club relay. Because of building work this year, the usual assembly area is unavailable, and taking the running time into account the school had at one point decided not to hold the event. Club captains then said they wanted to take part, and after discussion with staff the school decided to go ahead in a modified form, with fewer races. Details such as entry arrangements will be announced once confirmed. Had no one spoken up, the relay would simply have disappeared — which is precisely the point the talk had made.

The Student Council then reported on the city-wide student council exchange meeting, attended by 26 junior high schools from across Osaka. Pupils first exchanged views on using the internet well, raising points such as not connecting with strangers on social media and agreeing screen-time limits together with parents.

The second half was a group discussion on what student councils can do to improve their schools. Each school introduced its own activities: surveys on bullying and smartphone use, litter-picking around the school grounds, and even filming a short drama on bullying prevention. The pupil reporting back said that comparing these with our own work had revealed something distinctive in what Hokuryō does, and that the council hopes to build on what it learned.

The Daily Life Committee spoke about this month's target. Are pupils being reminded again and again by teachers at the start of lessons? These, the committee pointed out, are things that ought to be done without being told. They asked everyone to make them a daily habit, to give a quiet word to classmates who have not yet managed it, and to act on their own judgement rather than waiting to be prompted.

Finally, the PE department asked club captains to gather after lunch.

Saying what you think, and listening to what others say. The messages from the Student Council and the Daily Life Committee seem to grow from the same root. Value yourself, and value the person beside you. Over the busy month ahead, we look forward to hearing what Team Hokuryō has to say — and to seeing those words received.
