Grade 9 Social Studies: Teaching Empowerment Program — School Advisor Visit
On Monday, April 21, a School Advisor from the Osaka City Education Center visited our school as part of the Osaka City Board of Education's "Teaching Empowerment Program." This initiative was further enhanced for the 2026 academic year and aims to support the professional growth of early-career teachers.
During the visit, the School Advisor observed a social studies lesson taught by one of our second-year teachers in Class 9-3. The lesson focused on modern Japan's relationship with East Asia, asking students to examine historical sources and consider events from multiple perspectives. Students could be seen carefully reading their textbooks and handouts, fully engaged in the material.
The classroom atmosphere was a little different from usual, and students appeared more nervous than normal. Even so, they kept thinking through the questions posed by their teacher and never stopped writing in their notebooks. Experiencing that kind of focus in an "out-of-the-ordinary" setting is itself a valuable moment of growth.
After the lesson, the School Advisor offered detailed, practical feedback drawing on a wealth of experience and expertise. We are truly grateful for the advisor's visit despite a busy schedule. Our entire teaching staff will take this guidance to heart as we continue working to strengthen our classroom practice.
