「愛的話語，守護世界」——6月30日全校集會

6月30日（週二）早晨，我們舉行了全校集會。校長結合近期發生的事情，與同學們分享了幾段話。

首先談到的是上週五的臨時停課。由於發布了大雨危險警報，大阪市內所有學校都停課了。那天恰好碰上世界盃日本隊的比賽，或許有同學因此感到一絲開心。不過臨時停課並不是「開心的假期」，而是為了保護大家生命的休息日。校長希望同學們明白：下次再遇到類似情況時，也要想到「今天是為了安全而待在家裡的日子」。

接著，校長談起了日前辭世的美輪明宏先生。他在長崎經歷過原子彈爆炸，一生都堅守著「戰爭絕對不可發生」的信念。校長引用了美輪先生留下的「愛的話語」，並說道：這裡所說的愛並不限於戀愛，而是把人當作人來珍視。

惡言、霸凌、歧視乃至戰爭，根源都在於「不珍視他人的心」。正因如此，多說一句溫暖的話，少說一句尖銳的話——這份小小的累積，正是最重要的事。

這與北稜中學一直珍視的「珍視自己　珍視身邊的人」的理念，是緊密相連的。校長講話的全文，稍後將以PDF形式刊登，敬請一併閱讀。

此外，今天下午將舉行二年級的球類比賽。希望全學年的同學都能平安無傷、盡情享受。

"Words of Love Protect the World" – Whole-School Assembly, 30 June

On the morning of Tuesday 30 June, we held a whole-school assembly. The headteacher spoke about a few recent events.

He began with last Friday's emergency closure. A heavy-rain warning had been issued, and every school in Osaka City was closed for the day. As it happened, the closure coincided with Japan's World Cup match, so some pupils may have felt a small sense of delight. But an emergency closure is not a "happy day off" – it is a day of rest to protect everyone's life. The headteacher asked pupils to remember, next time something similar happens, that "today is a day to stay safely at home."

He then spoke about Akihiro Miwa, who passed away recently. Having lived through the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Mr Miwa held firmly throughout his life to the conviction that "war must never happen." Quoting the "words of love" that Mr Miwa left behind, the headteacher explained that the love being spoken of is not limited to romance, but means valuing each person as a person.

At the root of hurtful words, bullying, discrimination and even war, he suggested, lies "a heart that does not value others." That is why adding one kind word and removing one harsh one matters so much – it is the small things, gathered together, that count.

This connects directly with the spirit our school holds dear: "Value yourself, and value the person beside you." The full text of the headteacher's talk will be posted shortly as a PDF, which we hope you will also read.

Finally, this afternoon the Year 8 ball-games tournament will take place. We hope the whole year group enjoys it to the full, safely and without injury.
