Two Year 7 Pupils Take Part in the Osaka City Mayor's Cup English Contest: Australian Consulate-General Award in the Recitation Division
Today, the 37th Osaka City Mayor's Cup Junior High School English Recitation Contest and Speech Presentation was held at Yatanaka Integrated Elementary and Junior High School. Hokuryō sent one pupil to the recitation division and one to the speech division, and both of them are in Year 7!
The event is made up of two parts: the recitation division, which is judged, and the speech division, which is a presentation without judging. In a large hall, in front of a big audience, both pupils delivered their English with real poise.
Our pupil in the recitation division gave an excellent performance with lovely accent and intonation, and was presented with the Australian Consulate-General Award. Winning an award in Year 7 is a truly remarkable achievement.
Our pupil in the speech division also spoke in their own words, with a clear determination to reach the listeners. It was easy to see how steadily both of them had practised under the guidance of their English teachers.
Standing on this stage as first-year pupils will surely have given them both a great deal of confidence. We are very much looking forward to seeing how they grow from here. Well done, both of you!
We would like to thank the teachers who helped to run the event, as well as the parents and guardians who came to cheer our pupils on. We hope Team Hokuryō will always be a place where we cheer each other on whenever someone takes on a new challenge.

一年级两名学生参加大阪市长杯英语背诵大会・演讲发表会 背诵组荣获“澳大利亚总领事馆奖”
今天，“第37届大阪市长杯中学生英语背诵大会・演讲发表会”在やたなか（Yatanaka）小中一贯校举行。本校在背诵组和演讲组各派出一名学生参赛，而且两位都是一年级学生！
本次大会由设有评审的“背诵组”和不设评审、以发表为主的“演讲组”两部分组成。在宽敞的会场里，面对众多听众，两位同学都落落大方地用英语进行了发表。
参加背诵组的同学以优美的发音和语调完成了精彩的背诵，荣获了“澳大利亚总领事馆奖”。作为初一学生能够获奖，真是了不起的成绩。
参加演讲组的同学也用自己的语言，展现了努力把内容传达给听众的发表态度，表现十分出色。在英语老师的指导下，两位同学一点一滴、坚持不懈地练习，这份努力大家都看在眼里。
一年级就站上这个舞台，这次经历一定会成为两位同学的巨大自信。我们非常期待他们今后的成长。两位同学，辛苦了！
