Entrance Ceremony — Welcoming 172 New Students
On Thursday, April 3, Hokuryō Junior High School held its Entrance Ceremony in the school gymnasium, welcoming 172 new students as the Class of the 80th year. Just last month we said goodbye to 138 graduates, and now the campus is filled with fresh energy once again.
In front of the school gate, newly uniformed students and their families gathered around the ceremony signboard, snapping photos to mark the occasion. This year, the school lifted the white-only rule for socks and sneakers, and a cheerful variety of colors dotted the crowd — a small but refreshing glimpse of each student's individuality.
During the ceremony, the principal offered words of congratulations and spoke about building a school that students look forward to coming back to every day. He encouraged everyone to value both themselves and those around them, and reminded new students that it is okay to ask for help whenever they feel unsure or worried.

The new student representative delivered a wonderful address, expressing the joy of becoming a junior high school student, eager anticipation for school life ahead, and a strong determination to learn and grow alongside new friends. The speech also carried a warm sense of gratitude toward teachers and upperclassmen — a truly impressive start.
The PTA president also shared heartfelt congratulations. A highlight of the ceremony was the school song performance by returning student volunteers, which is fast becoming a beloved Hokuryō tradition. The gymnasium came alive, and the new students seemed to relax a little as their seniors' voices filled the hall.
After the ceremony, students headed to their classrooms for the first time to meet their homeroom teachers. Chalkboards decorated with cheerful "Congratulations!" messages greeted them as they received their student handbooks and carefully wrote their names in brand-new textbooks — the very first steps of their junior high school journey.
We sincerely thank all the guests who joined us despite their busy schedules. We also owe a heartfelt apology to the many parents who had to remain standing throughout the ceremony due to limited seating. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience and deeply grateful for your patience and warm support.
Our entire staff is committed to ensuring that all 172 new students feel safe, supported, and excited about school every day. Thank you for your continued partnership as we begin this new chapter together.
