参加“大阪880万人防灾演练”（9月1日）
今天9月1日（星期二）第二节课，上午10点，我校实施了「大阪880万人防灾演练」。这是一次以南海海槽巨大地震及随之发布的大海啸警报为设想的演练。
广播信号响起后，学生们立刻钻到课桌下，做出保护头部的姿势。在设想摇晃停止之后，大家从教室疏散到操场，整队清点人数；接着，因海啸警报，又转入向校舍三楼以上的垂直避难。
疏散过程中，几乎看不到交谈的学生。在楼梯上，大家一边保持前后间距一边快步上行，对老师的引导也能迅速反应。这是一次分为两个阶段的转移演练，但学生们都能沉着行动。由于当天残暑未消，学校严格控制了各环节的时间，并注意关照学生的身体状况。
演练结束后，校长在操场进行了讲评。9月1日是日本的「防灾日」，103年前的今天发生了关东大地震；今年夏天，7月28日熊本发生了震度7的地震。而本校所在的北区，是被预想可能发生河川泛滥、暴雨内涝，以及南海海槽巨大地震引发海啸浸水的地区。
讲评中还提到：阪神·淡路大地震时，被埋在废墟下的人当中，由消防等救援队救出的约占两成，其余约八成是靠自己脱险，或是被家人、邻居救出的。中学生已经不再只是「被救助的人」。首先保护好自己的生命，在此基础上，还可以向有困难的人搭话，发现危险时告知大人。

致各位家长：校长请学生们今天回家后，与家人谈三件事。如果地震发生时家人各在一处，要在哪里会合；电话打不通时，如何取得联系（可以利用LINE等网络通信、灾害用留言电话「171」、灾害用留言板「web171」等）；以及家里最危险的地方是哪里。这些话四五分钟就能说完，但这四五分钟，也许有一天能守护某个人的生命。希望各位能把它作为餐桌上的话题聊一聊。
北棱团队的各位。演练并不只是为了确认今天做得好不好。它是为了在真正发生什么的时候，能够守护自己的生命，并在力所能及的范围内守护身边人的生命。珍惜自己，珍惜身边的人。请把今天的行动，连接到今后的准备之中。

The Osaka 8.8 Million People Drill (1 September)
During second period today, Tuesday 1 September, at 10:00 a.m., we took part in the Osaka 8.8 Million People Drill. The scenario was a major Nankai Trough earthquake followed by a major tsunami warning.
When the announcement came over the PA system, students dropped under their desks and covered their heads. Once the shaking was assumed to have stopped, they evacuated from their classrooms to the schoolyard and lined up for a headcount. Then, in response to the tsunami warning, they moved on to vertical evacuation to the third floor and above.
There was almost no chatter during the evacuation. On the stairs, students kept a sensible distance from one another while moving briskly, and they responded quickly to staff directions. This was a two-stage evacuation, and they handled it calmly. As the late-summer heat is still with us, each stage was kept to a set time and staff kept an eye on how students were coping.
Afterwards, the principal spoke to students in the schoolyard. The first of September is Disaster Prevention Day in Japan, marking the Great Kantō Earthquake of 103 years ago. This summer, on 28 July, an earthquake of intensity 7 struck Kumamoto. And Kita Ward, where our school stands, is an area where river flooding, heavy-rain flooding, and tsunami inundation from a major Nankai Trough earthquake are all part of the official hazard forecasts.
He also shared a fact from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake: of those trapped under collapsed buildings, roughly 20 per cent were pulled out by fire crews and other rescue teams, while about 80 per cent escaped by themselves or were rescued by family and neighbours. Junior high school students are no longer only on the receiving end of help. Protect your own life first — and from there, you can call out to someone in difficulty, or tell an adult when you spot a danger.

A note for families: the principal asked students to talk about three things with you at home today. Where the family will meet if an earthquake strikes while everyone is in different places. How to get in touch when phone lines are down (LINE and other internet services, the disaster message dial "171", and the disaster message board "web171" are all options). And which spot in the house is the most dangerous. It is a four- or five-minute conversation, but those few minutes may one day protect someone's life. We hope you will find a moment at the dinner table for it.
Team Hokuryō — a drill is not just about whether today went smoothly. It is practice for the real thing: protecting your own life, and, as far as you are able, protecting the life of the person next to you. Take care of yourself, take care of the person beside you. Carry what you did today forward into how you prepare from here.
